About Us

St. Andrew's Church, founded in 1855, has served in its present location since its completion and dedication in September 1947. Members are very proud of the church's simple Georgian architecture, it's powerful, smooth voice Skinner organ, originally designed for the 1939 New York World's fair, and the unique stained glass    windows, copyrighted by the church, which are in the nave and narthex. The church complex includes the commodious and utilitarian Collins Hall, a two storied addition housing church offices for the Rector and staff, an elegant Parish Room, well appointed Nursery and several meeting rooms as well as two kitchens and a basketball-court-size auditorium and stage. The recent completion of the church undercroft has only amplified St. Andrew's ability to carry out it's mission.

Did you know that St. Andrew’s has worshiped in eight different spaces in four different locations over the past 150 years? The first location was at Chestnut Street, between Ninth and Tenth. (Click here to find out more)

Did you know that Saint Andrew’s has had 17 rectors over its 150 years of ministry?  The shortest term a rector served was by the Rev. W. Cosby Bell who served for less than a year between 1911 and 1912 and abruptly left to become the theology chair at Virginia Theological Seminary. (Click here to find out more)
