Youth Christian Education

Middle and High School classes meet with adults who design weekly discussion topics geared to their needs and interests.  Cam Norman and Jack Trawick facilitate the discussion with our High School students.  Bonnie Echelberger, Rob Nolan, and Travis Egbert have formed an effective team to lead discussions with middle schoolers.  Both groups enjoy eating a snack in their classroom or taking a walk down to Heine Bros. for brunch occasionally.

The middlers are using a book review format to explore different real world topics. They have met with a service dog trainer, a medical missionary, a CASA case worker and other members of our parish family who are doing God’s work in many ways.  They have discussed how they may also serve as God’s hands in this troubled world.  This "Speakers Forum" helps to strengthen inter-parish relationships, especially between the young teens and adults.

Each student has a chance to bring contemporary music that is, in some way, prayerful to them.  As one of the teachers said, “Hopefully, activities like this will help us avoid the trap of being ‘out of touch.”  The class is also collecting money and will choose an organization to donate it to later in the year.  And, as with all our classes, newcomers, guests and friends are always welcome.
