Mission Trip to Belize

Sponsored by Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church

and Hand-in-Hand Ministries

Fourteen members of the Saint Andrew’s family will travel to Central America this October to build a modest house for a needy family in Belize.  They may also work with children affected by HIV/AIDS.

The total cost of the trip is $25,500
$3,000 – the cost of a 16’ x 16’ house
$1,500 – Travel, meals and lodging for each participant.
$500 from the Wilbur Ball fund
               $500 from the participant
$500 from fundraising in the parish and beyond

Please hold the participants in your prayers as they prepare for this opportunity to be Christ’s hands in service to the poorest of the poor:  Sarah Acland, Tom Capes, Jay & Patty Hendrick, Martha Holland, Craig Lynch, Rev. Ben Maas, Libby MacLean, Nancy Matyunas, Rob & Suellen Nolan, Cam Norman, Candy Parrack and Pat Willis.

The House

The home will be built in five days, so when we say “modest”, you know we mean it.  It will be 16 feet square, with one interior wall dividing the family’s sleeping space from the cooking, eating, living area.  But it won’t be made of cardboard and it will give the family stability and security.

Major Fundraising Activities:

Kroger Cards  ~  Purchase a Kroger Card for $5.  It comes with $5 on it.  Four percent of any money you add to the card is passed on to our Mission Fund.  See Craig Lynch or Fr. Ben to purchase a card.

Build a House  ~  Help raise $3,000 by June 1,  When you give $$ for homebuilding we will put your name on our model house.  Every donation enters your name into a drawing for one of two pairs of tickets to River Bats games in August.  Drawing at the parish picnic, June 1.

Trivia Night  ~  Join us for a night of trivial fun and non-trivial fund-raising on Saturday, June 21.  Tables of 10 ($100 per table) will compete for the Mission Cup Trophy and the right to host the event next year, raising money for mission or ministry.  Choir, Altar Guild, Acolytes – everyone is invited to form a team and join in the fun.

Luau Dinner Dance and Silent Auction  ~  Collins Hall will be transformed into a tropical paradise on Saturday, August 23.  Don’t wait for more information – mark your calendar now and plan to be here for a lovely evening of fine dining and graceful dancing.  If you have anything to donate to the silent auction, please contact Pat Willis, 456-1975.
