Special Services

During the year there are special opportunities for worship in addition to our regular Sunday services.  In 2005 we celebrated the new ministry of our Rector, Ben Maas, with hope and expectation.  On February 4, 2007 we celebrated the beginning of our 150th Birthday year with a visit from Bishop Ted Gulick, baptisms, confirmations & receptions to the Episcopal Church, an elegant lunch for the adults and a Birthday Party for the children.

We begin our church year with a choral Christmas Pageant a week or two before Christmas Day.  The Christmas Eve services, mid-afternoon for families with younger children and at night for the traditionalists among us, are made lovely with beautiful music and glorious decorations.  The Epiphany season brings, not a service exactly, but the Choir Chili Supper and entertainment, which is a joy to participate in.  The special services of Lent and Holy Week are solemnly observed at Saint Andrew’s and the ringing joy of Easter is the high point of our spring.  In the fall we usually host a Jazz Mass during Jazz Week in the Highlands, and celebrate St. Andrew’s Day on November 30 with a Festival Eucharist.  In addition, we gather together in sadness for funerals and with great joy for weddings.  Baptism, Confirmation and the ever-popular Blessing of the Animals complete the round of worship services generally offered at Saint Andrew’s.
